New Swap! Summer Hair Accessories

It has been quite a while since I've hosted a swap!

My Little One came up with this idea, and I think it will be a LOT of fun!
She loves to create, and is always very interested in the swaps that I participate in... she'll definitely be helping with this one!


Here are the details:
Make 6 summery hair accessories. These can be embellished clips, barettes, bobby pins, combs, headbands, etc. Think flowers, buttons, cameos, vintage jewelry, etc. Try to stay away from the cutesie, cartoon-type stuff (Hello Kitty, etc), so the hair accessories can be worn by all ages. You can purchase blank hair clips and bobbies at craft stores or find them on etsy.

Create some cute packaging and wrap them individually (barrettes/bobby pins should be in pairs) and send them to us by July 1st. We will swap them out and send you back 6 from other players. Return shipping will be $5 by Priority Mail.

Brimfield Bliss!

We had such a fabulous time at Brimfield last week!

I read that there were over 6,000 vendors. Crazy, huh?
And that is 6,000 vendors selling just fabulous vintage finds and antiques, not the other "stuff" you sometimes find at flea markets.
Lots of high-end items and collectibles. Glass, pottery, jewelry, etc.
TONS of yummy furniture.
I wanted SO many things.
Next year I will bring a moving truck. Heehee.

Sorry to say, those are the only photos that I took of the booths. I was having too much fun chatting and shopping. Plus we had A LOT of ground to cover!!!

Frugal Fun

I picked up a few of these screen door thingies at a yard sale last week for a quarter.

Added some floral embellishments, velvet ribbon, and nests from my stash.


They're going in the gift baskets we made for my mother and MIL.


Not a bad little gift for 25 cents!

Foof and Fluff

This is the first Marie Antoinette inspired piece that I have ever made. I've just always thought that her style was a little *too* over-the-top for my tastes. My design and decor tastes are really pretty simple... vintage-y, cottage-y, whites and neutrals. Don't get me wrong, I definitely like a little foof, fluff, and bling. Love bling. I like making foofy things too. But the really foofy things usually end up in my girls' rooms or are things that I've created for swaps.


I actually just saw the Marie Antoinette movie a few months ago for the first time. I seriously don't know what took me so long! I LOVED it! Gorgeous colors, beautiful costumes, and stunning settings. Not long after I saw the movie, Maria asked me to join her Marie Antoinette Bits and Pieces Swap. I just had to play! I was thrilled to be partnered up with Dede!


We were supposed to divide a canvas into 12 squares, and decorate each one. I cheated a little, as you can see! :) I had SO much fun making this canvas for her. I used vintage sheet music, lovely collage images from here, baubles, bling, and lots of foof.


We were both a little late in mailing, so I will share Dede's canvas for me when it arrives!

I've also added some vintage-inspired flower bracelets. They are all made using real brass
findings and filigrees that have been given an antique finish, as well as a mix of beautiful new and vintage glass beads and pearls. They will come wrapped in a simple kraft box, ready for gifting!

May Baskets

How lovely are these? I picked them up yesterday at a little sale put on by the Senior Center. I remember making these with my grandmother when I was little. We'd fill them with little candies and flowers from the yard. Then we'd load them in my red wagon and deliver them to her neighbors. Sadly, it seems as though the May Day traditions (at least in our area) have died out.

The crepe paper they used is fabulous. Nice and thick, not like the crepe you can buy today. It must have come from someone's stash from long ago. The ruffles are all sewn, and then twisted by hand. I can only imagine how much time was put into each of them. It breaks my heart that they were selling them for just $2 each...


I also participated in ArtsyMama's May Basket Swap! I was thrilled to be paired up with Heidi. She has a lovely etsy shop filled with vintage treasures that you MUST check out!


This is the beautiful package she sent me! A vintage hat box filled with vintage treats. The box itself is fantastic! Plus it was stuffed with trims, a lovely vase, necklaces, ephemera, millinery flowers... all in gorgeous shades of blue.


My favorites were this adorable crocheted doll dress ( I feel a new collection coming on!) and this sweet old photo! Thank you SO much, Heidi!!!!

Heidi said she liked metals, rusty things, old papers, poem books, millinery, and art bits. I had a lot of fun hunting for treasures for her! Such a fun swap!
