Junk Hunting

With all of the get-togethers, morning soccer games, and bad weather that we've had lately,
my treasure hunting trips have been limited.
I have SO been itching to get out there.
I've been a little bit desperate actually.
That's at least what my husband said when I came home with this...
His first question was "WHAT IS THAT!?!?!"
His second was if I actually paid for it, or if they paid me to take it.  (He thinks he's just *soooo* funny.)
His third was if I had lost my mind...

I truly think it is kind of cute.
It is basically a chunk of wood that someone had carved these fun British icons in.
Maybe a school wood-working project?
It looks like the project was never finished.
Some of it it is painted, some not-so-much.
Or maybe it is supposed to be this way.
I have no idea...
But, I like it.
I'm thinking it just needs a little make-over.
Maybe some lighter blues and whites?
Or leave it as it is.
What do you think?
Would you have even brought it home in the first place?

Thanks to all who entered the June giveaway!
The winner is #32...

heehee! he must have given my husband lessons! i was putting together stuff for jessica's ephemera swap and he saw i had an old canceled check from 1960. he thought it was weird that someone had saved it but even weirder that i bought them. They were actually a bonus find in a big box of sheet music but that didn't appease him any!

I'd have bought it for sure! My son-in-law is from England and he would love it! It's perfect just as it is.

those men are all alike- got to love them!
I probly would not have brought that home but I always appreciate when others have a vision of what something could be!

Heather, you are so insightful, and I KNOW you will do something so amazing with that piece! THEN: chomp, chomp, chomp ... GULP! THAT will be the sound of your hubby eating his WORDS! LOL! That is SERIOUSLY cool &, YES! I think I would add a touch of blue & white. CONGRATULATIONS TO JEN! She's SOOOOO awesome, isn't she?

I really like it - I think it's iconic. Esp. since they don't have the double decker buses anymore. I wouldn't change the color. And, yes, I would have bought it, too - for my shop!

Yes, I would have "fought" you over it :) In fact it's really ugly and you don't want it hanging in your home so I volunteer to take it off your hands :)

Heather- I know just how you feel! I bought this little elf mug/planter several years back that I just fell in love with, he has a little chip on his collar, and that just made me love him more. And such a steal- $1! My DH said the guy selling should have paid me $1 to take it! My little "Elfin Magic" is now a sweet pen holder on "my side" of the office!!
